Fun article in Slate about Sarah Palin and the Sexy Puritan, which the article never really defines outright but which is a term I think we can all intuitively grasp....
(As an aside, two years ago I was in Utah shooting a documentary during the annual Mormon conference, when tens of thousands of Mormons have their own sort of religious Woodstock. Of those 30,000 Mormons, more than half were women and of the women more than half were hot. Mormon women under the age of 35 might be the single most attractive group of women in the United States. I am completely serious. They are gorgeous. They embrace American standards of beauty even while culturally shunning what those standards represent -- the clothes won't define the woman, in other words. But the clothes and how they wear them! Ad to that a veneer of chastity and wholesomeness and you've got yourself a paradox wrapped in an enigame tied up in a super sexy bow that you know, if pulled just right, would come undone in a glorious display of untapped hotness. It's like a world of Britney Spearses circa 2000.)
...that goes nicely with this other article in Slate about Sarah Palin and affirmative action.
