The Real America

At some point Republicans strong-armed our country into buying the myth that the real America is located on the periphery, in the prairie and on the plains, and that the city-dwellers, by virtue of where they live, possess some lesser claim on being American. I don't know if this argument ever made sense, but it certainly doesn't anymore.

79% of our population lives in urban areas.

It's past time that we allow ourselves to be ill-defined by the 21% who live in rural areas. We need to take back what it means to be American and open it up to include the vast majority of people in this country.
